Knee Pain Treatment in Memphis

Common Knee Pain Issues

Knee pain is an incredibly common issue for adults from a variety of backgrounds. However, if your knee pain is severe enough to impede upon your day to day activities, that’s not common — that’s cause for concern. Don’t let your knee pain take over your life; find a treatment solution instead.

At the Memphis Regenerative Healthcare, we specialize in treating knee pain with regenerative medical treatment options.

Causes of Knee Pain

The most common causes of knee pain are related to aging, repeated and regular stress on the knee, or injury. Some examples of knee pain causes include:

  • Arthritis
  • Baker cyst
  • Bursitis
  • Foot pain
  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Obesity
  • Occupation
  • Overuse
  • Poor posture
  • Sports and exercise
  • Strains and sprains
  • Tendonitis
  • Torn ligament or cartilage

How We Treat Knee Pain

We treat knee pain with a kind of regenerative medicine called platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. PRP therapy is an injection that’s derived from a patient’s blood sample.

Once the blood sample is drawn, that sample is then separated into a blend of components in a centrifuge. The component used in PRP therapy is plasma, a liquid part of the blood that is filled with platelets. Platelets are the “clotters” of blood cells, which help stop bleeding. This makes them one of the most important aspects of the healing process.

PRP injections contain a higher concentration of platelets than normal blood, thus speeding up the healing process.

Because the contents of the injection come from the patient’s own blood, the risk of an allergic reaction or their body rejecting the treatment is very, very low. The only risks of PRP therapy are the same risks stemming from any injection-based treatment:

  • Nerve damage
  • Nerve injuries
  • Infection
  • Tissue damage
  • Pain and/or swelling at the site of the injection

Patient Treatment Process

During your initial consultation at the Memphis Regenerative Healthcare, our healthcare specialists will talk with you about your pain, any diagnosis, medical history, or other factors in order to determine if our regenerative medical treatments are an option for your knee pain.

When you’ve been approved for treatment, we’ll schedule an appointment to start the treatment process. PRP therapy is a very quick procedure and rarely requires any downtime to recover or intensive doctor supervision, so you’ll be able to return to the rest of your day without any concerns.

Depending on the level of knee pain you’ve been dealing with and other potential considerations, multiple rounds of treatment along with follow-up appointments may be needed.
